Household Hazardous Wastes (HHW) are items that pose a health hazard if notdisposed of properly. These wastes should not be thrown away withyour regular garbage or poured down the drain. HHW days provideresidents with an opportunity to dispose of these wastes, as well aselectronics and tires. Household Hazardous Waste Event Days 2010

Household Hazardous Wastes can be disposed of at the Mohawk Street Landfill Sitefrom 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

These kinds of wastes should not be thrown away withyour regular garbage or poured down the drain where they could cause damage tothe environment.
The City now accepts all monitors with or without a CPU unit (tower) orkeyboard The City now accepts televisions up to a maximum size of32”. Residents are required to unload all electronic equipment fromtheir vehicles and place in the appropriate containers. The City no longeraccept microwave ovens at HHW Events.
Fluorescent/Compact Fluorescent Tubes: Bring fluorescent tubes to HouseholdWaste Events, in a cardboard box or wrap them in newspaper. Do not tape tubesor bulbs together. Limit of 10 tubes per vehicle, per event day.
Electronic Equipment: Bring your tired electronic equipment to the HouseholdHazardous Waste Days for recycling. Acceptable items includecomputers and related components, telephones, electronic calculators,photocopiers and fax machines, VCR’s, digital cameras. Unacceptableitems include conventional cameras, power tools, appliances, electric motors,microwave ovens & typewriters.
BRING US YOUR TIRES! Limit of 5 tires per vehicle, per event day(passenger, bicycle, motorcycle, camper trailer, and on or off the rim). Pleasenote that truck/trailer and off road tires, or tires larger than 16" indiameter are not accepted.
We Cannot Accept: Industrial, Commercial or Institutional Waste.

Residents of the City of Brantford must limit household garbage cans to 5 bags/cans per week. Each container must weigh less than 25 kg (55 lbs). Be sure to have garbage to the curb by 7:00 a.m., but not before 7:00 p.m. the night before.
2. Merry Mulch Collection

The Merry Mulch Collection will take place from January 4 through 15, 2010. Place your Christmas tree at the curb before 7:00 a.m. on your regular Garbage Collection day. Please ensure to remove all ornaments, tinsel, tree stands and clear plastic disposable bags.
3. Yard Waste Collection

Spring Yard Waste Collection will take place April 5 through June 25, 2010. Please note there is a maximum of 10 bags/containers per week beyond the regular 5-bag Garbage Collection limit.
Fall Yard Waste Collection will take place October 4 through November 26, 2010. Please note there is a maximum of 30 bags/containers per week beyond the regular 5-bag Garbage Collection limit.
Yard Waste consists of grass clippings, leaves, weeds, plants and bundles of brush. Remember to tie hedge clippings and tree trimmings in bundles no larger than 1.2 m (4') in length and 0.9 m (3') in diameter. All branches must be less than 10 cm (4") in diameter. Please note that rocks, dirt and sod are not accepted as yard waste and should NOT be included in your Yard Waste Collection materials. Yard Waste materials should not be raked to the curb. Be sure to place your Yard Waste Materials in front of your own property.
Acceptable containers include Kraft paper yard bags OR open rigid-walled containers with handles and without a lid. We DO NOT accept plastic bags.
Please note: From April 5 through to November 30, yard waste disposal is free of charge at the City's Mohawk Street Landfill Site.
